Great Rides and Routes

The Great Ride Routes below were mapped out by Ron H., and we would like to thank him for sharing them with us all. Each route is a PDF file with a simple map and point to point directions. We'd like to know what you think, so let us know.   Use Feedback Form

The project was first mentioned by Wes at one of the donut socials during the 2006 winter, to help customers find a route to take when the shop started renting Harleys. The main goal was to provide scenic routes for tourists visiting Kentucky, that would also provide either a scenic destination (Red River Gorge), or an interesting or historical place to visit (Perryville Battlefield, Colonel Sanders Museum) that could be done in a day without backtracking, if possible.  Ron tried to keep each trip within a reasonable days' ride from Lexington. Interstates were avoided, unless it was just way too complicated to route around... or time and distance was a factor. Rides to Mammoth Cave and the Jefferson Davis Memorial were just too far away to make this list.

The Delorme Street Atlas softcopy files are available if you have a compatible GPS unit. You can then import the route right into your GPS for easy navigation.  Contact the webmaster.

Disclaimer: NO GUARANTEE is either expressed or implied with regard to the correctness of these maps, or your ability of riding these routes. Things do change, roads do get rough and are sometimes difficult for some to ride. Each rider is different, and so are their riding capabilities and styles. If you follow the routes at your own pace, you should easily get there and get back. But watch out for those things that are out of your immediate control. If something is not right on the mapped routes, don't get upset with us, but please let us know so we can try and fix it.

Do you have a favorite ride route not covered here.  Let the webmaster know about it, and we'll see about putting another page together of "members" favorite rides or something.
